Ladbrokes Overview

Becoming one of the leading bookmakers in the United Kingdom is no easy task, and Ladbrokes have achieved this through years of hard work to piece together an exceptional sports betting website. However, Ladbrokes does not only offer a five-star sportsbook but also a range of high-quality products across its entire site for its vast base of customers to enjoy. There are many people working day and night behind the success of Ladbrokes, but one of the key names behind the brand is Jim Mullen. Ladbrokes’ range of quality products can be enjoyed once you have registered an account with the bookmaker.

Who is Jim Mullen?

Jim Mullen is a Scottish businessman that is currently the CEO of Reach plc, which sits as the UK’s most prominent news publisher. However, Mr Mullen was Ladbrokes’s former CEO after being promoted from his role as Managing Director in April 2015. In July 2015, Jim would once again be announced as the CEO of Ladbrokes after they underwent a £2.3 billion merger with Coral. There were various obstacles attempting to stop the huge merger between Ladbrokes and Coral from taking place, but Jim Mullen’s drive to see the merger deal succeed helped the deal go forward. Eventually, in December 2017, GVC Holdings agreed to purchase Ladbrokes Coral in a deal that was worth around £4 billion.

Being the CEO of Ladbrokes Coral would not always be Jim Mullen’s job, though, with the businessman stepping down from his role in March 2018. After leaving Ladbrokes Coral, this is when Jim Mullen took over as CEO of Reach plc. You may not have heard of Reach plc, but you will have heard of The Daily Mirror, The Daily Express and InYourArea, which are three of the major newspaper titles owned by Reach plc. With Mr Mullen playing a huge role in the development of Ladbrokes and helping them become Ladbrokes Coral, it is fair to say that he has been a key part of the bookmaker’s success.
