Masters Betting Tips

The 2020 Masters looks an extremely open affair. The usual suspects are at the top of the market with the favourite currently priced at 8/1.

That favourite was the star of 2019, Brooks Koepka. He had an astounding year, winning one of the majors. The world number one was successful in the PGA Championship whilst he finished second in the US Open and the Masters. He was also fourth in the Open. His showing in 2019 makes him the rightful favorite.

Rory McIlroy is priced second favourite at 10/1 and he only needs the Masters to complete a career Grand Slam having won the other three. He had a good 2019 outside of the Majors but he has not won one of them since 2014. He has some bad memories at Augusta after squandering a substantial fourth round lead when having a meltdown in 2011. He does have some solid showings at a course which should suit his game. He was 8th in 2014, 4th in 2015, 7th in 2017 and 5th in 2018. He has an obvious chance.

Tiger Woods is third favourite at 11/1 having springing a shock in 2019. That was his firth Green Jacket and his first since 2005. If he can win the competition again he will join Jack Nicklaus on a record six Green Jackets. The issue we have is that we do not see much value at 11/1. When he puts it all together at Augusta he is phenomenal and he seven top 6 finishes. We just don’t see the value in him at this stage of his career.

Big hitting Dustin Johnson is fourth in the betting at 12/1. He finished tied second last year and also has three top ten finishes out of his nine visits to the Masters. He broke his majors duck when winning the US Open in 2016 and he has finished second in all of the other three majors. He seems a sure thing to win another major at some point, but the question is will the Masters 2020 be his year.

The best of the rest seem to be Jon Rahm who has finished fourth and ninth out of his three appearances, Rickie Fowler who has yet to break his Masters duck and holds a runner-up finish and finally Jordan Spieth, a player that revels at Augusta and holds a victory but has suffered a dip in form recently.

We just have a feeling that this could be Rory’s year. He has a decent record at the Masters all things considered and has always had a game which should be suited to the course. We are backing him at 11/1 to win the Masters 2020 and complete the career Grand Slam. He was a similar price in terms of Masters odds 2019.
