Manchester United have been very lethargic in recent weeks and manager Jose Mourinho has also been cutting a frustrated figure on the sidelines. It is only a matter of time before United descend back into the dark and gloomy days if this trend persists. Southampton have come up with goals in recent weeks to provide the team with a glimmer of hope, but there needs to be a jump in points before the January transfer window. Southampton might be able to profit from United’s misfortunes, according to our preview, and pick a draw.

Southampton win odds: 4.00
Manchester United win odds: 1.83
Correct Score odds
United have been very average going forward in the last few weeks. Marcus Rashford was a bright point for United in the Champions League game against Young Boys but he may not have been happy with Mourinho’s reaction at his performances. The lack of goals from Lukaku has made United depend heavily on long ball tactics. Southampton have come up with a decent offensive threat in recent weeks. Our correct score prediction would go with a 1-1 draw.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals odds
The recent matches for Manchester United have not been entertaining and it is not a surprise that Old Trafford was not at 100% capacity for the recent Champions League game. The Red Devils have been poor at both ends of the pitch while Southampton have been very poor going forward throughout the campaign. Our total goals prediction expects under 2.5 goals in the match.
[bet_tip_now stars_1_2_3=”3″ block_title=”Goals odds and prediction:”]Total goals under 2.5 at 1.90[/bet_tip_now]
First Goalscorer odds
Marcus Rashford was United’s biggest threat in the midweek game against Young Boys. Lukaku’s goal drought has not come to an end even if the physical threat provided by the Belgian remains a key threat for United. Rashford will be replaced by Anthony Martial, whose pace on the counter-attack may actually help open the scoring. Our first goalscorer prediction would back Anthony Martial.
