Sheffield Wednesday can return to winning ways this weekend when they host Preston North End at the Hillsborough Stadium. The hosts have managed just one win in the past 10 matches and their lean run has dropped them within five points off the drop zone. Preston, however, have experienced an upward curve since October with just the solitary loss and they are now eight points adrift of the top six. Follow all our predictions, odds, football bets and betting tips below.
Betting Tips for the game
Wednesday suffered their third defeat in five matches after they were beaten 2-1 by Swansea City on the road. Marco Matias opened the scoring for Wednesday after the hour mark but their joy was short-lived after Bersant Celina and Wayne Routledge scored for the Swans within a minute of each other.
Preston, meanwhile, have bagged back-to-back league triumphs with the latest coming against Millwall. Alex Neil’s side overcame the South London side by a 3-2 scoreline in their stadium last weekend.
Hillsborough was the destination for the last meeting between the sides in March and the game saw Wednesday win by a comfortable 4-1 score. Our betting tips and predictions fancy Preston to continue with their winning streak.

Wednesday are backed to return to winning ways at 3.20 this weekend but they face a stiff task of doing so despite the home advantage. The hosts have genuinely struggled in the past two months where they have bagged just the solitary triumph and this should play into the hands of the away team, which has won two of their previous three away games. Our preview expects Preston to end their nine-year winless run at Hillsborough.

Correct Score odds
Sheffield have been disappointing with their scoring in their home patch and they have netted just an average of one goal in the past five matches. This has been the case in Preston’s last five away trips but a better defensive record has meant that they have accumulated twice the number of points as Wednesday have managed at Hillsborough in the same interval. Our correct score prediction fancies Preston to outscore the hosts to a 2-1 triumph.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals odds
The defence has not been a strong point for Wednesday this term with over 70 percent of their home matches witnessing more than two goals. Preston’s last three trips to Hillsborough have produced the same outcome, though the hosts have prevailed each time. Our total goals prediction is to go with more than 2.5 goals.

First Goalscorer odds
Alan Browne has excelled in an attacking midfield role for Preston this term and he comes into the weekend’s game with three goals from the last five matches. He has opened the scoring on two occasions including the league triumph against Millwall last weekend. Our first goalscorer prediction would back Browne.
