Reading are at the Madejski Stadium for the weekend’s Championship clash against Aston Villa. The Berkshire outfit have been stranded in the relegation zone for the past six matchdays but their survival prospects remain alive with a one-point gap to safety. Villa, though, are still playing catch up to the playoff positions but the deficit has reduced to four points after their recent return to winning ways. Follow all our predictions, free bets, football bets and betting tips below.
Betting Tips for the game
Reading’s recent league meeting came against fellow relegation candidates Bolton Wanderers and it finished in a 1-1 draw. Nelson Oliveira scored on his debut for Reading but his effort was cancelled out by Jack Hobbs in injury-time.
Villa, meanwhile, were on the winning side for the first time in 2019 after they bagged a 2-1 triumph over bottom side Ipswich Town. Tammy Abraham continued his stunning form with a goal in either half.
Reading previously tackled Villa on the road in August and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. The last meeting at the Madejski Stadium witnessed Reading win by a 2-1 scoreline. Our betting tips and predictions favour a win for the visiting team.

Reading are priced at 3.50 to return to winning ways but they face a stiff challenge of overcoming Villa. Reading and Villa have both registered the solitary win since the turn of the year but the latter have picked up regular points in the form of draws with Abraham making the difference. Villa’s defence has looked vulnerable over the past few months but their scoring prowess should get the better of Reading on the road. Our preview would go for a Villa win.

Correct Score odds
Reading have been struggling in the scoring department of late and they come into the game with four goals from the past five matches. Villa have fared much better with seven goals in the same timeline. The visitors’ defence remains a weak point with no shutouts compared to Reading’s two, but they still have an in-form Abraham upfront, who should make his mark. Our correct score prediction would back a Villa 2-1 win.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals odds
Historically, this fixture has witnessed an abundance of goals with just one game since 2013 producing less than three goals. Villa are bound to score with Abraham in great scoring form, while their vulnerable backline remains to be capitalised. Our total goals prediction fancies more than 2.5 goals.

First Goalscorer odds
Tammy Abraham has maintained an excellent scoring run through the campaign and he has netted a stunning six goals in the past five appearances. He has found the opening goal on three occasions. Abraham can be fancied to replicate the feat against Reading against whom he has bagged two goals in as many meetings. Our first goalscorer prediction would back Abraham.
