Nottingham Forest entertain Wigan Athletic at the City Ground in the Championship this weekend. The hosts have managed just the solitary victory since the beginning of December and the run has dropped them seven points behind the playoff positions. Wigan have experienced a similar run of form but they are lying at the tail-end of the standings with a six-point advantage over the bottom three. Follow all our predictions, free bets, football bets and betting tips below.
Betting Tips for the game
Forest suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship after they were beaten 1-0 by Bristol City. Famara Diedhiou proved the difference between the sides with a 70th-minute winner for Bristol.
Wigan were similarly on the losing side in the previous weekend following a 1-0 loss on the road to Sheffield Wednesday. Steven Fletcher bagged the match-winner for Wednesday after the hour mark.
The DW Stadium was the destination for the previous meeting which finished in a 2-2 draw in August. The last encounter at the City Ground was three years ago and it ended 4-3 in Forest’s favour. Our betting tips and predictions anticipate a close Forest win.

Wigan are given a price of 3.75 for a return to winning ways but we are not predicting this result for them on the road. The Latics have been pretty poor on their travels this term and they have accumulated just five points from a possible 42 available. The hosts can be fancied to secure the maximum points with a reaction expected with the appointment of a new manager. Our preview favours a Forest win.

Correct Score odds
Both Forest and Wigan have lacked the consistency when it comes to the scoring department this term but the former have fared better in the past five matches with seven goals compared to the visitors’ five. Forest should have the upper hand in this encounter with the better strikeforce and they can be backed for a shutout with Wigan drawing blank in nearly 60% of their away games this term. Our correct score prediction is to go with a Forest 1-0 win.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals odds
Forest may be struggling with their scoring prowess but they have been impressive in the defensive front in their home turf. Just one of their matches their stadium since November has produced more than two goals and another low-scoring game can be fancied with Wigan failing to score in three of the previous four away trips. Our total goals prediction is to go with less than 2.5 goals.

First Goalscorer odds
Lewis Grabban has been Forest’s leading scorer with 14 goals but he has struggled since December with no contributions in the past seven appearances. Still, the ex-Bournemouth man should remain the main threat for the opposition, as he has led the line in 75% of the league games. Our first goalscorer prediction would back Grabban to end his drought.
