Newcastle United take on Cardiff City at the St James’ Park in what could be a six-pointer between the two teams. The Magpies and Bluebirds are separated by just one point with Cardiff gaining this slender advantage after the weekend results. Yet, there is a deep sense of relegation fear amongst both teams after having spent most of the campaign in and around the bottom three. Follow all our predictions, free bets, football bets and betting tips below.
Betting Tips for the game
Newcastle were unable to get anything out of the match against Chelsea, as the Magpies endured yet another disappointing trip to London. Rafa Benitez saw his team lose 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Cardiff were able to stop a run of back-to-back defeats in all competitions by getting a goalless draw against relegation rivals Huddersfield. Cardiff were quite fortunate to come away with a point after having almost conceded a late penalty.
The reverse fixture between Cardiff and Newcastle produced a goalless draw at Cardiff City Stadium with the visitors being reduced to 10 men. Newcastle’s last home game against Cardiff saw them pick up a 2-1 win. Our betting tips and predictions expect a stalemate.

Newcastle and Cardiff have been in a bad run of form over the campaign. Rafa Benitez continues to complain about the lack of funds for bringing quality players, while his own future is under a cloud of doubt. A lot of uncertainty surrounding the potential takeover of Newcastle exists and this will only add to the lack of support from the stands. Cardiff may have been unbeaten in the last two away matches, but they are generally very poor on the road. Our preview would pick a stalemate.

Newcastle United win odds: 1.85
Cardiff City win odds: 4.20
Correct Score odds
The primary reason for Cardiff and Newcastle to find themselves in relegation trouble is the lack of creativity or finishing touch in the final third of the pitch. Newcastle have only managed 16 goals this season while Cardiff are only slightly better with a return of 19 goals. The lack of some key players makes it extremely difficult for Cardiff to have an impact in the match. Our correct score prediction would go with a 1-1 draw.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals odds
The last two games between Newcastle and Cardiff have witnessed a tight game with few goals separating the two teams. It is unlikely to change this time around with both teams having not improved substantially going forward. The addition of Salomon Rondon to the starting line-up does make Newcastle threatening but not sufficient to ramp up the goals. Our total goals prediction would opt for under 2.5 goals.

First Goalscorer odds
Salomon Rondon did not have many opportunities against Chelsea to add to his five-goal, but he did end up with the best chance for Newcastle towards the end. He remains the biggest threat for the Magpies and our first goalscorer prediction would back Salomon Rondon.
