Ligue 1 is the top division in French football and one of the five elite football leagues in Europe. It is ranked alongside the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and Bundesliga. Although it has been dominated by Paris Saint-Germain since their takeover, there have been title upsets from both Monaco and Lille that highlight it is still a league worth watching.

There are 20 teams that compete in Ligue 1 each season, all of whom play each other twice in the season; once at home and once away. The team that earns the most points over the course of the season will be crowned champions of France. At the bottom of the table, the teams that finish 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th are relegated to Ligue 2.

Ligue 1 Team Live Streams

As previously mentioned, Ligue 1 is the top division of French football and there are a total of 20 teams that compete in the competition. The winner of the league is the team that accumulates the most points over the course of the season, playing 38 games in the process. Each team must play each other twice within these 38 games, once at home and once away. Three points are given for a win, one for a draw and none for a defeat.

The rest of the positions in the league will be determined by the points totals of each competing team, with there being more than just the league title to play for in Ligue 1. There are three Champions League places up for grabs that are given to the teams that finish in the top three of the table. The team that finishes fourth in the league will qualify for the Europa League, while the team in fifth will qualify for the Europa Conference League. There is a further Europa League place up for grabs for the winner of the Coupe de France, but if the winner of the cup has already finished in the top four places then fifth will enter the Europa League, while sixth will be awarded the Europa Conference League place.

Each season the two teams that finish 19th and 20th are automatically relegated to Ligue 2, while the team in 18th will have to face the winners of the Ligue 2 promotion play-offs to decide their fate. The winner of the two-legged tie will then secure their place in Ligue 1 for the following campaign, meaning there can be two or three teams promoted and relegated each season depending on the outcome.
