Nine matches have been lined up in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) on Saturday 29th December.

  1. Bandari FC vs Western Stima – Mbaraki – 3 PM

High-flying Western Stima will have their first real test of the season when they take on Bandari at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.

Western Stima seats at the top of the log having won all its first three matches, against Posta Rangers, Tusker FC and Kakamega Homeboyz. Bandari on the other hand have won two and drew once, against Gor Mahia, Sofapaka and KCB respectively.

  1. Sony Sugar FC vs Zoo FC

Sony Sugar host Zoo FC at the Green Stadium in Awendo. Zoo started the season badly by losing to Nzoia and Gor Mahia but bounced back by beating Chemelil Sugar FC at home intheir last fixture. Sony on the other hand drew with Tusker, lost to Kariobangi Sharks and beat Vihiga United. This is Sony’s match to lose.

  1. Posta Rangers vs Mathare United

Posta Rangers hosts Mathare United at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. They lost to Western Stima in their opening match of the campaign and recovered by beating Mt Kenya United. Mathare United has won two and drew one of its three opening fixtures of the season – against Chemelil, Nzoia and Ulinzi Stars respectively. Mathare is yet to concede a goal so far in this campaign.

  1. KCB FC vs Tusker FC

KCB FC have endured a tough start to the season having lost its first two matches against Kakamega Homeboyz and Ulinzi Stars. The team held Bandari to a 1-1 draw and will be eager to record their first win. Tusker drew against Sony Sugar, lost to Western Stima and thrashed Mt Kenya United 3-0. This will be a tough match to call but I tip Tusker to emerge victorious.

  1. AFC Leopards vs Vihiga United

AFC Leopards takes on Vihiga United at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Vihiga United beat Ulinzi Stars 2-0 in its opening match of the season, drew 1-1 with Chemelil Sugar in the next and lost to Sony Sugar by a solitary goal. AFC Leopards on the other hand have drawn against Sofapaka and Kariobangi Sharks but lost heavily to Kakamega Homeboyz – 3-0.

  1. Ulinzi Stars vs Sofapaka

Ulinzi Stars lost to Vihiga United United in the first match and recovered by beating KCB FC 3-1 in their second match of the season and drew 0-0 with Mathare United. Sofapaka beat Mt Kenya United 2-1 and lost by the same margin to Bandari in their second match of the season. They then settled to an entertaining 2-2 draw with AFC Leopards in their third match of the season.

Arguably the biggest match of the weekend. Both teams are desperate to bounce back after losing continentally. Sharks drew with AFC Leopards in its first match of the season, beat Sony Sugar 2-0 and played to a barren draw with Nzoia Sugar at Sudi. Gor Mahia lost to Bandari 2-1 and beat Zoo FC 4-0. This is Gor Mahia’s match to loss.

  1. Kakamega Homeboyz vs Nzoia Sugar FC

Homeboyz beat KCB by a solitary goal in the first match, thrashed AFC Leopards 3-0 in the second but lost 2-1 to Western Stima. Nzoia beat Zoo by a solitary goal, lost 3-0 to Mathare United and settled for a scoreless draw with Sharks. Going by Homeboyz form and home record so far, this will be an easy match for them to pick three points.

  1. Chemelil Sugar FC vs Mt Kenya United

Off pitch issues continue to affect Mt Kenya United’s performance this season. The team has lost all its three matches so far; identical 2-1 losses to Sofapaka and Posta and were handed a 3-0 beating by Tusker FC. Chemelil are yet to pick a win too having lost 2-0 to Mathare, played to a 1-1 draw with Vihiga United and lost 2-0 to Zoo. This match has all the indications of a draw.
