Ipswich Town are at Portman Road for the weekend’s league meeting against Rotherham United. The hosts have been lying in the drop zone for most of the campaign and they are now under real threat of relegation with ten points separating them from Rotherham, who are just outside of the drop zone. Follow all our predictions, free bets, football bets and betting tips below.

Betting Tips for the game

Ipswich suffered their third-straight defeat in the Championship after suffering a 3-2 loss at the hands of Millwall last week. They suffered further misery in the FA Cup third round where they were beaten 1-0 by Accrington Stanley.

Rotherham, meanwhile, ended their nine-match winless run in the league after securing a 2-1 triumph over Preston North End on New Year’s Day. They could not sustain the joy in the FA Cup, however, after suffering a 7-0 hammering at Manchester City.

Ipswich recently faced Rotherham at the New York Stadium in August where the latter won by a 1-0 scoreline. The last meeting at Portman Road was two years ago which ended in a 2-2 draw. Our betting tips and predictions fancy a share of the spoils.

Match odds

Rotherham are priced at 3.30 for a win while Ipswich are backed for the same at 2.30. Rotherham recently ended their winless run since November but this does not give them an advantage at Ipswich with just four points on the road this term. The hosts are not in the best form either with just one win in 15 attempts. Our preview is to go for a draw.

Ipswich Town win odds: 2.30

Rotherham United win odds: 3.30

Correct Score odds

Both Ipswich and Rotherham are not in the best of scoring form with just four goals in the past five Championship matches. Due to this, a cagey encounter could be on the cards this weekend, though both sides should find the scoresheet with a clean sheet being a rare occurrence for either. Our correct score prediction is to go for a 1-1 draw.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals odds

Despite their lowly position, Ipswich have generally restricted the opposition from scoring heavily and this has contributed to nearly 70% of their home matches producing two or less goals. The previous two meetings between the sides have witnessed the same outcome with 1-0 being the final scoreline. Our total goals prediction anticipates less than 2.5 goals.

First Goalscorer odds

Michael Smith has been Rotherham’s main goal threat upfront in recent months and he helped them return to winning ways with the match-defining strike against Preston last weekend. The 27-year-old has now netted five times in the Championship this term and he can be fancied to find the net against Ipswich after netting the sole goal during the last meeting. Our first goalscorer prediction is to go with Smith.
