US Masters betting

About the US Masters

The Masters (known as US Masters outside America) is the first of the four golf Majors, taking place in April. The tournament differs from the other three Majors in that it has a fixed venue – Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. You will see less golfers taking part in this competition because the Augusta National Golf Club choose who will play.

The US Masters was started back in 1934 and was first referred to as the Masters in 1939. Since then there have been a number of legendary players which include Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

The winner of the US Masters receives the traditional green jacket, gold medal and also a replica of the Masters trophy. The winner also currently receives $1,350,000 (about £880,000) in prize money.

Masters betting

Masters betting is always popular being the first of the four Majors in the golfing calendar. Although there are a smaller number of players at this tournament (due to the Augusta invite system), there are still a good number to attract long odds on several potential winners. This means that Masters bets always have a good potential for making profit, as will all outright golf bets.

Tiger Woods often starts the outright winner market at favourite having already won it four times in the past. PaddyPower often do money back specials on Woods. An example from 2010 is “If Tiger Woods leads the tournament at the end of any completed round and fails to win, you will get your money back on him to win the Masters”. This is an extra opportunity to get more out of your Masters betting as it is effectively offering a life-line on your bet.

As the US Masters is dominated by American players, the Top International Player bet is a good one. Here you just have to pick an international player who you think will do best in the tournament. If you put your Masters bets on this you can usually get quite good odds.

Another popular Masters betting option is round by round betting. This is a simple bet where you pick who you think will be top at the end of each day at the Masters.

In-play betting has also become popular at the Masters in recent years. The changeability of the course means that the form of players often changes day-to-day making it great for placing in-play Masters bets.
