Although Manchester United won the title last week, the final week is still very important for a lot of teams. To start with Chelsea will be hoping they can catch Liverpool and gain 2nd place. Although they are only 3 points behind they would need to get at least 6 goals with Liverpool not scoring or conceding, so it is unlikely to happen.
The most important matches on the final day will be around the relegation zone.
Middlesbrough are pretty much relegated. Even if all the other teams around them lose this weekend, they still have a vastly inferior goal difference which will make it almost impossible to stay up.
Newcastle who are just inside the relegation zone are just one point behind Hull who are just safe at the moment. Newcastle have a better goal difference so that could come into play this weekend.
Newcastle will play Aston Villa who have lost a bit of form recently. If Hull lose to Manchester United, Newcastle will just need a point to stay safe.
Hull will have not liked their last fixture of the season when they saw the fixture list at the beginning of their campaign. However this could be a controversial match as Manchester United have already won the league and will be preparing for their big Champions League game. This means that they could field a weakened side as they have done in past seasons. But bear in mind that a weakened side for Utd is just as good as many of the other first teams in the league.
Sunderland are just 2 poins above the relegation zone and could fall into it if they don’t win. They have a very hard game against Chelsea who will be looking to snatch the 2nd Premiership spot from Liverpool.
