Wimbledon Betting Tips

Posted on 26 April 2012 by Joseph in Tennis, headline

The third tennis major of the year gets underway in June with the most famous tournament of them all, Wimbledon.

All players know they face a very tough task this year if they are to deny the current top three another grand slam title.

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have won the previous nine tournaments between them.

The likes of Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and David Ferrer will be looking to upset the odds and take their first title at the all English tennis club.

Novak Djokovic is the reigning champion and the world number one will be looking to make it back to back wins at SW19 this summer. The Serbian has been in great form again this year, winning the first Major of the season in Australia in January.

The final between Djokovic and Nadal was a fantastic encounter at Wimbledon last year, with the current world number one winning in four sets.

Roger Federer won the tournament every year between 2003 -2007 and then in 2009, the former number one will be looking to take the title for the seventh time.

The likes of Juan Martin Del Potro and Mardy Fish will be confident they can make a significant impact on the tournament, causing a few surprises along the way.

All British hopes of course rely on Andy Murray to win his first Grand Slam, there would be no better place for the Scotsman to do this than on home soil. Murray has got to the semi final at SW 19 in the last three years so will be desperate to go that bit further this time out.

Winners Odds

Unsurprisingly Novak Djokovic goes into the tournament as favourite. You can back the Serbian at 3.00 (2/1) with SportingBet.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are both available at 4.00 (3/1) with BoyleSports.

Juan Martin Del Potro looks like being the best bet outside of the current top four players, his odds are 26.00 (25/1) with Ladbrokes.

Andy Murray Special

If you think Murray is on top of his game at the moment, you back him to go all the way and win the tournament without dropping a set.  William Hill are offering 67.00 (66/1) on this happening.

Recommended Bet

Andy Roddick is a player that seems to relish playing at Wimbledon, you can back the American at 101.00 (100/1) with BlueSQ.
