As ever in this upcoming Premier League season, there will be a battle between the best strikers in the division as they look to finish the campaign with the Golden Boot award. There are a number of world class forwards in the league at the moment and the competition to be the leading scorer will be as fascinating as ever.
Robin Van Persie’s future at Arsenal is still unsure and he may not even be playing in England next season. He finished with the Golden Boot last campaign and was in superb form for the Gunners, scoring 30 goals.
Van Persie can score all manner of goals, whether they be from three or thirty yards.
One man who will be staying at his club next year and looking to emulate his form in front of goal from the season just gone is Wayne Rooney.
Rooney scored 27 goals in the league, making him the highest scoring Englishman. He will need to bounce back from a disappointing time at Euro 2012. If he does this, Rooney could be on the score sheet plenty of times again.
Sergio Aguero was the other stand out striker in his debut season in England. The Manchester City man often led the line and scored 23 goals in helping his side to the Premier League title.
Aguero certainly showed that he is one of the best around and many people would only back him to get better as he is now settled in the country.
Fernando Torres is another name amongst the favourites as he looks to be in great form after winning the Golden Boot at Euro 2012.
Torres has found life tough at Chelsea but with the confidence he now has, this could be the year for him.
There are many other contenders that will be hopeful of a good year in front of goal. The likes of Luis Suarez, Papiss Cisse and Carlos Tevez are just some of the names that could win the award.
