The final group match of the women’s Olympic football tournament take place tomorrow and Great Britain take on Brazil, in match where the winner will top Group E.
Both teams can go into the game with the pressure somewhat off them though as they have both won their opening two encounters, meaning that they have booked their place in the quarter-finals, no matter what the result here.
However, Team GB and Brazil will know how important momentum is in tournament football and that winning the group can prove to be a big advantage.
Great Britain played New Zealand in their opening game and just edged a 1-0 victory. Then, in their second match against Cameroon, they really turned on the style, taking the match 3-0.
This could now be a great sign for Hope Powell’s side as they are full of confidence and will feel as though another good performance here would put them in fantastic shape to go on and take a medal.
Stephanie Houghton has been in good form in front of goal in the tournament so far, scoring two goals in as many matches.
As ever with this team, Kelly Smith will be the one that the team is looking otwards to come up with something special and she is certainly capable of doing just that.
As for Brazil, much like Team GB they have won both games without conceding a goal. It was in their first encounter against Cameroon where the Brazilians really showed what they can do when they won 5-0.
In the second game against New Zealand, they put in a thoroughly professional performance, winning 1-0.
They will now want to win a third game in a row and secure their place in the final eight as group winners.
It certainly looks set to be a great match.
