The Olympics get underway later this month and one of the most eagerly anticipated evens is the men’s football which sees some of the best players in the world competing for the gold medal.
Much like the European Championships, the tournament includes 16 teams that compete across four groups and the top two from each go into a quarter-final.
Team GB will be managed by Stuart Pearce and have picked a strong squad that will be hopeful of going all the way in the competition.
Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards are the three senior players that Pearce has chosen and these men will be looking to guide the youngsters through the tournament.
There is plenty of exciting talent in Team GB that will be looking to prove themselves at this level.
Spain will go into this competition with an extremely strong squad which is no surprise with the amount of talent they have at their disposal at the moment.
Many of the Spanish side would have played a part for any national side in Euro 2012, however such is the quality in the national side at the moment they are available for the Olympics.
Brazil are another team that will be going for gold, especially as they did not compete in Euro 2012 so can put out a very strong outfit.
When it comes to tournament football, the Brazilians’ are the experts and are never to be taken lightly.
The likes of Uruguay, Mexico and Switzerland will also feel confident about their chances of spring a few surpirises at the Olympics.
With just 16 teams competing, there is no time for teams to rest or relax, the games will come thick and fast and they must be at their best.
It is all set for an enthralling tournament in the biggest sporting event in the world.
