Newcastle v Man City Betting Tips

Posted on 03 May 2012 by Joseph in Football, headline

Sunday’s early kick off come from The Sports Direct arena when first place Manchester City travel to a Newcastle side that find themselves in fifth.

Newcastle have been one of the surprise packages this season and are now challenging for a top three finish, their hopes were boosted last night after a fantastic 2-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They are now just one point adrift of third placed Arsenal

Papiss Cisse scored two potential goals of the season in that match on Wednesday night, the Senegalese striker has made quite an impact in the North East since arriving in January, scoring thirteen goals in twelve games.

Alan Pardew’s men have now won seven of their last eight Premier League matches, which makes them one of the form sides in the division.

Pardew will know that his team face a difficult two final games of the campaign against Man City and then a trip to in form Everton, however with the results they are picking up at the moment, you would not rule out maximum points for The Magpies.

As for Manchester City, they had a famous victory over title and local rivals Manchester United on Monday evening, a result which saw them move back to the top of the table on goal difference.

Roberto Mancini’s side are in a hot run of form at the moment, winning four games in a row, scoring thirteen goals and conceding just one.

Mancini will now be telling his men to forget what happened on Monday night and turn all their focus into beating a Newcastle team that have been fantastic on home soil this season.

With the final game of the season coming at home to Queens Park Rangers, fans at The Ethiad Stadium will be confident that a victory this weekend would all but clinch the title. They will, however, be aware that QPR are fighting for their lives and there is no easy game at this stage of the season.

Match Odds

The Citizens go into this encounter as favourites, which is to be expected given they are currently top of the table. You can back Man City at 1.5 (4/6) with BoyleSports.

Despite their recent form, Newcastle know they will need to upset the odds to take all three points here. Alan Pardew’s men are being offered 5.5 (9/2) with StanJames. A draw is available at 4.20 (16/5) with BetFred.

First Goal-Scorer

In form strikers Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero look to be the best bet to get the scoring underway on Sunday afternoon. SkyBet are offering 6.00 (5/1) on this happening.

It’s no surprise that Papiss Cisse is Newcastle’s best chance of breaking the deadlock, you can back him at 8.00 (7/1) with Ladbrokes.

Recommended Bet

Roberto Mancini’s men ran out 3-1 winners in this fixture earlier in the campaign. Odds on a repeat result this time out are 13.00 (12/1) with SportingBet.
