Monday night sees Wigan travel to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn in arguably the biggest fixture of this round of Premier League matches.
Blackburn know that a win is vital to keep their hopes of Premier League survival alive, they are currently three points adrift at from safety so if results go against them this weekend, could be relegated on Monday evening.
Steve Kean would have been extremely disappointed in his side’s recent performance at Tottenham last time out, the game that ended in a 2-0 defeat. Rovers did not manage a single attempt on or indeed off target in the whole 90 minutes, something which had happened just once before in Premier League history.
With a trip to Chelsea on final day of the season, three points and nothing else will do for Kean’s men here, however with six defeats in their last seven games, it will be a very tough ask against a Wigan side firing on all Cylinders.
Roberto Martinez’s side have been nothing short of exceptional in recent weeks. They have beaten Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle in recent weeks, passing each side off the pitch and full deserving their victories.
Last time out, The Latics smashed Alan Pardew’s side 4-0 at The DW Stadium to move three points clear of the bottom three. It now three wins in four games for them.
However, Roberto Martinez will know that there is still a lot to do to ensure Premier League survival, failure to pick up points against Blackburn and Wolves in their final two games will make all the hard work from last month worthless.
Wigan look to have the most straight forward run in out of the sides fighting to stay in the league, though they will know that consistency has been a problem for them this campaign. It looks destine to go right to the wire.
