White Hart Lane is set for another famous European night tomorrow night with Tottenham set to take on AC Milan in the Champions League last-16 tie.
Harry Redknapp’s men will be favourites to progress after securing a famous 1-0 win at the San Siro in the first-leg, but the hard work is by no means done for them.
If they play as well as they did in Italy though, they have a very good chance of progression. It was a shame that the incident with Joe Jordan and Gennaro Gattuso overshadowed such an accomplished Tottenham performance.
The home faithful will hope it is the football that is making the headlines come Thursday morning, with the news that Tottenham are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Many have said that Redknapp’s team can beat just about anybody on home soil and now is the time to prove it. It will be interesting to see how they cope with the favourites tag in this one.
As far as team news is concerned, Gareth Bale is still hoping to prove his fitness, while the club’s medical team are confident that Rafael van der Vaart will be available for selection.
This would certainly lift the home side for what is a huge game in their season. They were disappointed with the 3-3 draw with Wolves at the weekend which gave them a setback in their quest for fourth place, but what a stage to bounce back on tomorrow night.
Tottenham’s opponents AC Milan will be without three key players for the game, another piece of news weighing in the English club’s favour.
As we all know, Gattuso is suspended and he is joined by the injured duo Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Ambrosini on the sidelines.
Whatever eleven they are up against, Tottenham need to focus on getting the job done. AC Milan will surely improve from the first leg and will know that an early goal for them throws the tie wide open.
Another entertaining battle between England and Italy?
Bring it on.
