Spurs travel to Manchester tonight in their first game of the season after their first game was cancelled due to the riots.
History shows that Spurs have a terrible record at Old Trafford and in fact, it has been 20 matches home and away since they have come away from a match against United with a win.
United are missing Ferdinand and Vidic at the back, but they should still come away with three points. United showed confidence in their first game and it will help them tremendously going into this game against a Spurs side who are yet to start their Premier League campaign. Although they did chalk up a 5-0 win over Hearts in mid-week, turning up against Manchester United is a whole different ball game! History shows that anything other than a home win is unlikely.
Match Odds
As just stated, anything other than a United win here would be a surprise. The odds have traded as high as 1.75@ Betfair for United to win the game, which looks great value considering they are odds-on favourites for the game.
Correct Score
For United, the only thing that could count against them is that Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are out for the game, although United youngsters Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have already shown that they are fully capable of standing in for the big United duo, so we shouldn’t worry too much. Look in the correct score market for United to win in – 2-0 and 3-0 – as Spurs could find it hard to score.
First Goalscorer
Last week Wayne Rooney looked to be back in form. He took his goal well and gave us a glimpse of what we could see from him in the following months of the new season.
Along with Rooney, Ashley Young showed great form in the first game of the season. He looks like he will be a good signing with lots of promise.
Both Rooney and Young are good options for first Goalscorer tonight. Rooney is currently 5.0 @ Betfair.
