Aston Villa v Swansea Betting odds

Posted on 26 November 2011 by trooney in Football, headline

Swansea will look to get back to winning ways at the Liberty stadium when they take on Aston Villa on Sunday.

Brendan Rogers’ side lost their unbeaten home record against Manchester United but will fancy taking all three points when they come up against an Aston Villa side who can only go one way after their insipid last Premier League outing against Tottenham.

Alex McLeish’s side fell to a 2-0 defeat against Spurs but could have lost by at least four goals as they failed to muster much of an effort on their way to defeat.

As a former Birmingham boss McLeish has faced a battle to get the Villa Park faithful on side, and the Scot will certainly be looking for a convincing performance along with three points to get the travelling support on board for what is expected to be a tough season.

Swansea midfielder  Joe Allen is in line for a recall having seemingly recovered from a calf complaint, while Steven Caulker could feature having returned to training after recovering from a knee complaint, but a place on the bench is perhaps the best he can hope for.

Aston Villa meanwhile appear to have overcome the worst of their injury complaints with captain Stiliyan Petrov likely to be available having overcome a hamstring complaint, while Chris Herd is also available once more having overcome a leg problem.

McLeish will also be thankful he can call upon on-loan Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas after he missed the game against his parent club.

However it’s not all good news for Villa as f Nathan Delfouneso (hamstring) and Eric Lichaj (hip) remain in the treatment room.

The Swans will be banking on their notorious home defence remaining as tight as ever against Villa, with Rogers’ men having only shipped two goals at the Liberty Stadium so far this season.

While Swansea remain tight at home, Villa have endured nothing but misery on their travels, and are only one of two sides outside the relegation who have yet to win a game on the road.

Match winner

While Villa are favourites for this one, Swansea will be hopeful of claiming at the very least a point.

The Swans are 2.20 (6/5) with SkyBet while Aston Villa are 3.40 (12/5) to claim all three points, and the draw is also 12/5 both with @ VC Bet.

First goalscorer

Darren Bent will lead the line for Villa after a week of speculation he may leave the club, and the England international will think of no better way of ending a disturbed week with a bang.

Bent is 7.50 (13/2) with BetFred and favourite to open the scoring, while his partner in crim on the wing Gabriel Agbonlahor is 9.00 (8/1) with Ladbrokes.

For Swansea Danny Graham has proved himself clinical in front of goal this season and is the favourite to open the scoring for the home side at 8.00 (7/1), also with @ Ladbrokes.
