Mark Webber produced another great qualifying display to grab pole for Monaco tomorrow. It was Kubica who had set the best time, but Webber just edged him out. Webber’s Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel came in third just before Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton.
Nico Rosberg again out-paced teammate Michael Schumacher grabbing the sixth and seventh spots.
Jenson Button will be disappointed that he only managed eighth. He will want maximum points to maintain his position at the top of the leaderboard.
Fernando Alonso will start the race on Sunday from the back of the grid after he crashed out of the final practice and was unable to continue. The extent of the damage to his car meant that Ferrari will be using the spare car.
Red Bull are really showing their dominance this year, having qualified in pole for each of the 6 races so far. However they sit third in the constructors’ world championship reflecting their race mishaps. To really be dominant this year, both Vettel and Webber need to make sure they grab points when given the opportunity.
Webber is at 1.78 to win the race at Betfair. The race in Monaco looks to be dry and it is hard to see any other driver passing him.
