European Grand Prix – Valencia

Posted on 25 June 2010 by admin in Formula 1

There is one place where we can rely on the English to beat the Germans this Sunday, and although we hope it will be in the football too, we are actually talking about the European Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button sit in positions 1 and 2 in the Drivers Championship, and will be hoping for high finishes this weekend.

Schumacher’s return to F1 hasn’t been as many expected. Sitting in 9th in the Drivers Championship table with only 34 points, he has almost no chance of the title now.

Hamilton has finished runner up in the European Grand Prix for the last two years running, so he will be hoping for third time lucky! He is 4.0 at Betfair to win on Sunday and 3.1 to regain the title at the end of the season. Button is now 7.8, so he is great value. Being his first year at McLaren, it means he should improve over the season, so expect big things from him. At 30 he also has great experience in the job, so the pressure to retain his title will not unsettle him. 9.4 at Betfair for the win on Sunday is a good bet for Button also after looking at Hamilton’s 4.0, but after the improvements to his car, Fernando Alonso is also worth a look at 4.5.

Ferrari have been lacking so far this year, but with improvements to both cars they can only improve as the season progresses. However, so far this season the races seem to be dominated by the McLaren-Mercedes and Red Bull-Renault teams.

The Valencia street circuit has been criticised in the past for few passing places, so expect the final race finishing places to be fairly similar to the qualifying order.
