China Grand Prix 2010

Posted on 17 April 2010 by admin in Formula 1

Red Bull continued their brilliant start to the 2010 Formula One season by securing another front row grid for the Chinese Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber showed no signs of slowing down the great form they have started the season with and RBR will now be extremely confident of another race victory after Vettel’s win last time out in Australia.

Behind the two Red Bulls will be the Ferrari cars of Spaniard, Fernando Alonso, and the Mercedes of German, Nico Rosberg. Both of these drivers still have a point to prove. Statistics showed they had the quickest car on the track at certain points during qualifying.

However, it seems that the Red Bull cars had a little more give when it came to bursting away from difficult corners, which is ultimately the thing which pushed them into first and second positions.

The British contingent in this race, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, will be satisfied but not ecstatic. They complete the third all-team grid in a row taking up the fifth and sixth starting positions.

The McClarens will be happy, as this qualifying session was much better than the one they had in Australia. Both drivers managed to make it to decent finish positions at the end of the race from starting positions down in the low tens.

If everything goes according to plan then the Brits could still do well in China because they have the driving ability and skill to get past anyone. However, it will be difficult because the four cars in front of them seem to be in amazing form.

Alonso’s Ferrari teammate, Felipe Massa, will start the race down in seventh place after he badly timed two of his qualifying runs. However, he has enough ability to get off to a good start and could even steal one or two places by the end of the first corner.

The rest of the grid will be made up of the teams who are all battling for contention to get a bigger name within the sport. Force India will be a little disappointed that they couldn’t secure higher grid positions as the potential of their car does seem to have improved in the early races this season.

Adrian Sutil will take up tenth place for FI as they continue their search for key points and a way to win their first Formula One race.

Keep a close eye on the battle between Nico Rosberg and F1 legend, Michael Schumacher at Mercedes. So far this season, Rosberg has done better in every race than his fellow German.

The point is that many expected the situation to be the other way around. Schumacher has looked calm and composed during a variety of TV interviews but it will be interesting to see how he reacts tomorrow if Rosberg out performs him yet again.

Vettel and Webber are the favourites but the strength of the immediate pack behind them means this could be a very interesting race.
