Aston Villa vs Everton

Posted on 29 August 2010 by admin in Football, headline

Both Aston Villa and Everton would have hoped for better starts to the new Premier League season.

Although they started well with a 3-0 win over West Ham, Villa’s second game was a 6-0 loss to newly promoted Newcastle United.

Everton lost their first game 1-0 to Blackburn and then drew 1-1 with Wolves. That is one point won in two games which they were expected to win.

The clash between these two usually decides who will finish ahead of each other in the league, but at this stage in the season each team is just hoping for a win to get their season going.

Villa are still without a manager after Martin O’neill’s shock resignation and caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald will be trying his best to pick the Villa side up after their heavy loss Newcastle. They were dumped out of the Europa League in midweek so now they really have to focus on their Premier League hopes.

Everton had plenty of chances in their first two games, but they only managed one goal from them. However they had a midweek Carling Cup game against Huddersfield and managed to score five, so they could have finally got into their stride.

For Premier League bets usual meetings between these teams are pretty close. The last three games between them have been draws, but Villa come out top in the stats after not being beaten by Everton in the last eight games against them.

As both teams will be going for it in this match we can expect goals. Backing over 3.5 goals at Betfair might be the way to go.

Everton are marginally better hopes for this match. They have played better than their opponents in their opening games, although the results do not show it. Villa could still be in low spirits after their terrible week of nine goals conceded in two games.

In the last three encounters between Villa and Everton 12 goals have been scored. As just mentioned, backing over 3.5 goals could be an option, but if you don’t feel confident, over 2.5 goals is priced at 2.14 at Betfair. However in the last 12 games between these two sides 43 goals have been scored, so if past results continue, then over 3.5 goals is very possible.

If you are looking for a few correct score bets, then they seem to have good odds in this match. A draw or possible edge in Everton’s favour look good with these odds: 2-2 draw @ 18.0, 1-3 Everton @ 32.0, 2-3 Everton @ 40.0
