24 goals is an exceptional amount for a young player starting at a team in a foreign country. If Rafa Benitez really wants to push for a Premiership win this season, then he will play Torres as much as he can. Last season Ronaldo had a few more games than Torres which certainly helped him notch the extra goals.
Rafael Benitez has also demanded greater protection from referees for Torres and had this to say about his top goalscorer:
“Fernando has been amazing, and he has reached that total without any penalties”.
