We move onto the 2nd festive fixture. The first, as expected produced some exciting matches. Man City put 5 goals past Hull and Aston Villa reproduced last years feat by equalizing in the last minute to draw against a “top” 4 side.
Now we have reached the mid-point of the season we start to predict where teams are likely to finish at the end of the season.
This year has certainly been exciting with Arsenal being kept out of the big 4 by Villa. Also, after a slow start, Man Utd have been quietly creeping up on Liverpool and Chelsea. If Man Utd win their 2 games in hand, then they will be on equal points with Chelsea.
The bottom of the table looks very interesting as well this year. Hull had a strong start to the season and have almost certainly cemented their Premiership stay for next season. West Brom and Stoke have notched up a good number of points, but it hasn’t been enough to keep them out of the relegation zone. They are favourites to go down along with any team below 7th place, which creates an interesting situation. All these teams are cosidered established in the Premiership and include Fulham, Wigan, Bolton, Portsmouth, Newcastle, West Ham, Sunderland, Man City, Tottenham, Middlesbrough and Blackburn. It will be a tough battle with only 5 points separating these teams at the moment.
