Euro 2008 Golden boot odds

Posted on 19 June 2008 by admin in Football

Now that the group stages of Euro 2008 are over, it is time to review who will be the top scorer at the end of the tournament.

The current top scorers are:

Villa (Spain) – 4 goals
Podolski (Germany) – 3 goals
Yakin (Switzerland) 3 – goals

Spain have had an excellent start scoring 8 goals in total. 4 of which came from David Villa. He looks set to be favourite at the moment.

Yakin with switzerland has been knocked out of the competition, so can be discounted. Podolski and Germany beat Portugal to go through to the semi-finals, so is still in with a shout.

The low odds on Villa gives better odds on high potential players like Fernando Torres and Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Both have scored 1 goal so far for their contries. Plus both of them have also be unlucky with a host of missed and saved chances.

It would only take a hattrick for any of these players to catch up with Villa, or even a few goals over several games. There is potential to make money here with the high odds available.
