The Champions league is back, with the first matches of the group stage played tonight and Wednesday night. The following fixtures are taking place:

Chelsea will also be without Didier Drogba as he is suspended after his red card in the Champions League final. However Michael Ballack will return after 3 weeks out with a foot injury.
Both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres should be fit and see a return to action. Last year in this fixture, Marseille came out with a 1-0 win. However Liverpool responded in the away leg with a 4-0 win.
Celtic will be playing an Aalborg side who are in the Champions League for the first time since 1995. They are both in a tough looking group E, which includes Manchester United and Villarreal.
Samir Nasri is not included in Arsenal’s squad after failing to recover from his ankle injury. Coach Yuri Semin has promised to man-mark Adebayor after his hat-trick in Arsenals 4-0 win at Blackburn on the weekend.
Cristiano Ronaldo will start on the substitutes bench for Manchester United against Villareal, which could see a return ahead of schedule. Dimitar Berbatov has a knee problem, so may not feature. Carrick is also out after breaking a bone in his foot against Liverpool. Former United striker Giuseppe Rossi is out for Villareal with a thigh injury.
