Sunderland welcome Manchester United to the Stadium of Light in the Premier League on Saturday, and desperately need a win to boost their survival hopes. The Black Cats are currently languishing in a lowly place in the table, but could well pull off a shock win against a travel-sick Manchester United side who just can’t get the job done away from home this season.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash, Sunderland are 19th in the Premier League table after 25 games, but are winless in their last four. However, the North-East outfit have won one and drawn one of their previous three home games that will see opponents Manchester United very wary of their threat. Sunderland are fighting for every point, and the Stadium of Light is sure to be an intimidating ground for United as a result.

As for the visitors, Manchester United just can’t find any consistency this season. The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League table, but are six points off a top-four spot and 12 points adrift of Leicester City at the summit. They have dropped points in three of their last five games in the division, but despite their disappointing away record did impress in their last outing to Chelsea.

One win from six on the road will see opponents Sunderland with hope of getting a result at the Stadium of Light, but recent off-field incidents could prove to be a distraction. The North-East side were forced to sack a first-team player recently, and with Manchester United having won their last two meetings against the Black Cats, this weekend’s clash could be the third on the bounce.
